After having a hospital water birth with my first son, I wanted to make sure a water birth would be possible again with my daughter. As our local hospital only have 2 birthing pools we decided to have a home birth and hire a birthing pool. We felt £80 for 5 weeks hire was a bargain and having the pool delivered and picked up made the preparation for our homebirth 'stress free'!"

Mum Sasha added: "The pool was really easy to use, my husband put it up really quickly when I was in labour and it didn't take long to fill. (We did have a practise run first!) I laboured in the pool for 2 1/2 hours and my daughter was born underwater in the pool in front of the fire in our living room. I didn't need to use any pain relief as being in the water really made the contractions bearable. My daughter Xanthe was born with the most natural and calm entry into the world. "It was so easy to put up and fill when my labour started, my labour was only 3 hours but we had plenty of time to fill it and it maintained temperature really well with only a little top up needed of warm! It really did help me labour smoothly I felt so safe and cosy inside the pool and our little girl enjoyed her first cuddles in the water too! It was also easy to let down thanks to the pump and was packed away again in no time thanks to my husband, who really enjoyed having a purpose rather than standing around like a spare part!. The collection of the pool was also completely stress free."

Mum Fiona added: "I would recommend a home water birth to everyone, provided the pregnancy is normal. The warm water of the pool is fantastic for relaxing you enough to control your breathing and cope with the contractions. I've found the pool absolutely essential as the contractions get to the point where you start to feel that you might not be able to cope. I've managed to deliver without any other pain relief, not even gas and air, and without intervention. I'm no hippy but really feel that a birth in water has been the most natural and gentle way to bring my boys into the world."

Mum Fiona added: "Your hire service just adds to the convenience, having somebody to drop the pool off and then come and take it away again. I have to say that for five weeks hire, the disposable liner, drop off and pick up the £80.00 you charge is worth every penny and, I would go so far to say, is an absolute bargain. Mum Sherrie said: " The pool really helped in the early stages of labour but unfortunatly I had to get out to have my baby as her head was tilted and she wouldn't desend as quickly as she should of done. At 00:02 on the 28th August i gave birth to a beautiful girl called Robyn. I believe it's because of the pool I didn't need any drugs not even gas and air for the whole 18 hours I was in labour. Thank you so much for helping me with my birth and enabling me to have a home birth. Without the pool I think I'd have ended up in hospital having an epidural."

Mum Janet said: "It took 30 minutes to fill the mini pool we hired, I got straight in at 2 centimetres dilated and she was born in less than 3 hours. I picked her up out of the water myself, she cried a really strong cry and we discovered we had a baby daughter. It was an amazing experience. No drugs or stiches required."

Mum Danielle said: "I felt like I couldn't have done it without the pool! One thing that really felt amazing in terms of pain relief was being in the pool and having water poured over my back during contractions (with a measuring jug to start with and then later a whole bucket!). Also, being in the water made it much easier to change positions as well as to relax slightly between contractions."

Mum Danelle added: "Afterwards my husband was able to jump in with us and cuddle our new little boy and support a very exhausted new mum!!!"

Mum Jessica said: "The pool took no time at all to inflate and was full of water in under an hour. The sensation of being in warm water and cocooned in the pool immediately relaxed me and made the contractions more bearable, I actually began to enjoy my labour and was floating around in my own little world. I quickly got to 10cm and stayed in the pool all that time, unfortunately my baby had to be delivered on dry land and not in the pool due to her hands being stuck round her face and she refused to come out! At 3pm Willow Rose Chippendale was born on my bedroom floor!"

Jessica added: "I found the service Emma provided to be friendly, efficient and very competitively priced. Although my baby wasn't born in the pool I found it an amazing pain relieving tool to use during labour and will definitely be using one of Emma's pools again for my next birth."
