I currently offer 5 Weeks Hire of either the Birth Pool in a Box or Aquaborn pool for only £80.We do NOT charge you for delivery or collection of your pool*.(*except to restricted postcodes specified by our Courier Company below. These postcodes will incur a £30 delivery and collection fee)

Conditions of Use

Hire period
On receipt of your completed booking form you will be emailed anBooking Confirmation/Invoice which will specify your hire period of up to 5 weeks*
The hire period runs from 37 weeks in your pregnancy to 42 weeks of pregnancy. This is the standard period of time a water birth is ‘allowed’ throughout the UK.
If you go beyond 42 weeks in your pregnancy and you are lucky enough to live in area that allows you to continue with a homebirth we will extend your hire period free of charge but only if you give us a call to inform us of your situation.
We ask that collection of your pool is arranged within 3 days of giving birth for hygiene reasons.
No refund will be given for early return of the pool or poolsthat remain unused.
Payment
We ask for no payment when you fill out and submit your booking form.
You will be contacted by phone at around 36 weeks in yourpregnancy to make sure that everything is going well and that you are still going ahead with your water birth. If you need to cancel your booking at this point then this will be done free of charge. If everything is going well we will arrange a convenient day for delivery of your pool. Payment should be made immediately so that we can get your pool to you at 37 weeks in your pregnancy. This can be done by cheque or by bank transfer. All payment details can be found on the bottom of your Booking Invoice.
If you are booking late in your pregnancy please note that payment will be due immediately.
Any discount vouchers must be mentioned on your booking form and sent to us to claim your discount.
Delivery and Collection
All deliveries outside of Hertfordshire are made by a courier. Delivery is on a 'Standard Next Day' Service, delivery will take place anytime between 9am & 4pm.
The courier will ask you to sign a receipt for the pool on delivery. You must unpack it and check that everything is present and correct within 72 hours of delivery.
We will arrange a convenient day for collection of your pool as soon as you contact us to let us know that you have finished with it. The courier will visit your address anytime between 9am and 6pm. In the event of the courier receiving no reply from you or is turned away without collecting the pool you will be liable for a non-collection fee of £15.
All equipment must be packed away safely in the box provided to give our equipment adequate protection during transport. The courier has the right to refuse to pick up any box where the lid is not securely shut. A non-collection fee of £15 also applies.
Equipment
Our birthing pools are supplied with a brand new sealed disposable liner, hoses, two tap connectors, a digital floating thermometer,a strainer, a waterproof floor sheet, anti-slip floor mat, electric submersible emptying pump and electric inflate/deflate pump.
We take great care in looking after our birthing pools and accessories and are confident that they leave our premises in good condition and perfect working order.
You must follow the assembly, filling and operating instructions, available to download and print from this website, very carefully.
It is your responsibility to ensure the safety of all those involved in the use of the pool and to make sure the building in which it is placed is suitable e.g. is weatherproof and can take the weight of the pool.
Except in respect of death or personal injury caused by our negligence, we do not accept any liability for any consequential loss or damage, costs, expenses or other claims for compensation whatsoever which may arise out of or in connection with the hiring and use of one of our pools.
Instructions are available on the Instruction page of this website. If you are unable to print them yourself we can print them for you at a cost of 50p.
Two tap connectors are supplied with the pool. If one does notfit your taps the other should but that cannot be guaranteed. Please check these as soon as you receive your pool so that you have plenty of time to purchase a more suitable one from a garden centre or hardware shop if necessary.
Please note that any thermometers or water temperature gauges supplied are approximate only. If you wish to have an accurate temperature reading then please supply your own thermometeror consult your midwife.
Always fit a liner before filling the pool with water. If you require a spare liner to have a practice run before the birth we can supply you with a demo liner for an additional cost providing we have one available.
On receipt of your pool please inflate your pool and check that no items have been damaged or lost in transit. Due to misuse we longer offer an out of hours number therefore any fault or failure of the pool must be reported to us within 72 hours of receipt and no attempt made to repair it without our authorisation.
Any use of the pool for other than childbirth or ante-natal relaxation will invalidate the guarantee.
Please throw away the disposable liner before returning the pooland ensure that the hoses and submersible pump are fully drained.We make no claim as to the individual medical or other benefitsthat you will personally derive from the use of our pools.Throughout these conditions, the term pool means the Birthing Pool and all accessories.
Care of Equipment
You are expected to take reasonable care of the pool and accessories, whilst in your possession.You must pack everything back into the box provided before it is returned to provide adequate protection for the pool and equipment during transport.
Please be aware that the pool and accessories have a capital value.If for any reason you cannot return any of the items at the end of the hire period or they are returned damaged, we reserve the right to charge you for the cost of a replacement. It is therefore advisable for you to have insurance cover for the pool (such as Home Contents Insurance).
The pool must remain at the address supplied on the booking form and in your possession unless otherwise agreed with us.
You are responsible for the pool for the duration of the hire period. Our pools are not suitable for use with a water heater as it will melt through the plastic. Under no circumstances should the pool or accessories be stored outside.
Pets should be kept away from our pool.
Safety
It is very important to be aware of electrical appliances whilst preparing and using the pool.
Never touch an electrical switch orappliance with wet hands.
Always site the pool away from sockets or cover them with asplash proof cover.We do not accept liability for any damage or injury caused bymisuse or carelessness.
Additional Charges
Unauthorised extension of hire period
Once you reach 42 weeks in your pregnancy (the end of your hire period) you should call us to discuss return of your pool. If we do not hear from you and we have not heard from you or someone on your behalf you will be charged £16 per week your hire period runs into.
Non-collection fee
If the courier comes to collect your pool and they receive noreply from knocking at your door or is turned away withoutcollecting the pool you will be liable for a non-collection fee of £15.
Wet pool fine
Pools MUST NOT be returned wet for any reason. Any pool returned wet will incur a fine of £16 (the equivalent of one weeks hire). To avoid this fine never fill your pool without fitting a liner first, if you spill water into the pool when removing the liner wipe itdry with a towel or kitchen roll etc before deflating it, drain your submersible emptying pump and hoses before placing them in thebox, you may wish to place your hoses in plastic carrier bags, follow the advice given in the instructions regarding packing wet items at the bottom of the box and never store your pool outside.
Missing or damaged items
Missing or damaged items must be paid for.
Refusal to return equipment
All pools and equipment remain the property of Water Baby Birthing Pool Hire. In the rare circumstances that a customer refuses to return the pool or equipment to us we reserve the right to take the necessary steps to recover our property. All charges and interest incurred will be invoiced to the customer.
If a pool has been booked by a Midwife or Doula or your clients behalf please make sure they are aware of the Conditions of Use.
Removal of these fees is at the discretion of the Proprietor.
